A proposed safety campus in Beaumont’s Innovation Park has $38.5 million in provincial infrastructure funding behind it.

The money will go to the City of Beaumont for roads, utilities and municipal servicing needed to support development in the park, including the proposed Alberta Motor Transport Association safety campus.

For civil contractors and utility crews, this is enabling work ahead of the campus itself — roads, underground services and municipal connections are the first pieces to move.

A $400,000 mechanical upgrade is planned at a recreation facility in Elbow Park.

The Calgary permit covers 636 29 Ave. S.W., with HVAC listed as the likely trade. At $400,000, it is the biggest permit Calgary issued this week.

Airdrie changes permit process for homes with secondary suites

Airdrie has created a single permit application process for new single-family homes that include a secondary suite.

The process change was issued through a BILD Calgary Region industry update on Sept. 30 and applies to all new home builds with a secondary suite in the city.

For residential GCs and permit coordinators working in Airdrie, applications for these builds will now move through one process rather than separate application paths.
