Fonda Park’s new flag football complex is taking shape in southeast Calgary, with two of the three fields now complete and scheduled to open for bookings in April 2027.

The City is delivering the project at 1017 Fonda Ct. S.E. with the Stampeders Foundation as part of its 2026 Grey Cup Legacy Project. The third field is set to begin construction next spring.

The work repurposes underused playfields, including a baseball diamond, while retaining the park’s skate slab and playground. The City selected the site because it already has transit access, parking and other infrastructure to support increased recreational use.

The project is responding to growing participation in flag and touch football among youth and adults. Once complete, the three-field layout will add a new recreational facility for families in the surrounding communities.

Rocky View County has updated its building inspection booking requirements, effective Oct. 5, according to a bulletin from BILD Calgary Region.

Inspection requests now need to be submitted in advance under the county’s revised process. Contractors working in Rocky View County will need to account for the new booking requirement when lining up inspections and sequencing work.

The update applies to building inspections across the county.
