Terms of Service

Syndex is a private, invite-only network that introduces general contractors (“GCs”) to commercial subcontractors (“subs”) in Calgary and area, Alberta, Canada. A GC posts a request, matching subs are invited, subs reply Yes, Call me, or No, and the GC contacts the responders directly.

Syndex is an introduction service only. We are not a party to any agreement you reach with another member. Specifically:

• We are not a contractor, subcontractor, employer, employment agency, staffing agency, or broker, and we do not supervise, direct, or control anyone’s work.
• We do not set, guarantee, collect, or process payment between members. Pricing, scope, scheduling, invoicing, and payment are entirely between you and the other member.
• We do not guarantee that any request will receive replies, that any sub will be available, or that any member will get work.

Members are manually reviewed before they can receive invitations. A subcontractor is marked WCB verified when a person at Syndex has looked at a Workers’ Compensation Board document that member uploaded and judged it to be in order at the time of review.

That is all it means. It is not a warranty, certification, or ongoing confirmation that a member’s WCB account, insurance, licensing, or qualifications are current, adequate, or accurate today. Coverage can lapse the day after we review it.

Details members provide about themselves — including insurance limits, crew size, years in business, rates, and service area — are self-reported and are not independently checked by us.

Before engaging anyone through Syndex, do your own due diligence: request a current WCB clearance letter directly from the WCB, confirm insurance certificates with the insurer, and verify any licence, qualification, or safety requirement your project demands. Do not rely on a badge on this website.

• You must be at least 18 and using Syndex for a business engaged in commercial construction. Accounts are for businesses, not consumers.
• One account is one role — general contractor or subcontractor. If you signed up in the wrong role, create an account in the correct one and tell us so we can close the other.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you enter, including your phone number and email — that is how other members reach you — and for keeping your login credentials secure.
• We may decline, suspend, or remove any account at our discretion, including where information appears false, where a member is unresponsive or misuses the network, or where we are asked to by a regulator.

You agree not to:

• submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including documents that are not yours or are no longer valid;
• use another member’s contact details for anything other than the specific project you were introduced for — no marketing lists, no resale, no scraping, no bulk export;
• attempt to access accounts, data, or areas of the service that aren’t yours, or probe, disrupt, or overload the service;
• use the service to discriminate against, harass, or endanger anyone, or in violation of any applicable law, including occupational health and safety and employment standards legislation.

You keep ownership of what you upload — your profile, request details, and documents. You grant Syndex a licence to store, process, and display that content as needed to operate the service, including showing your profile details to members you have been matched with. That licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies kept in backups or where we must retain records by law.

Operational messages are part of the service and continue for as long as you have an account: invitations to relevant requests, replies to your requests, verification outcomes, and account, security, and legal notices. You cannot opt out of these while your account is open. To stop them, ask us to close your account by emailing privacy@syndex.ca from the address on the account — there is no self-serve close button today, and we won’t pretend otherwise. We action closure requests within a reasonable period.

Promotional messages — product news, features, and offers — are separate and optional. We send them only if you opt in, and every one of them carries an unsubscribe link. Declining or unsubscribing never affects your operational messages or your standing in the network.

The service is provided as-is and as-available. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that messages will always be delivered on time. It is a young product and it is under active development.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Syndex disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, work quality, safety conduct, insurance status, licensing, payment, or solvency of any member you meet through the service. Any dispute arising from work arranged through Syndex is between the members involved.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Syndex is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost work, project delays, or costs of substitute services. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or CAD $100. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You will indemnify Syndex against claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the service, your content, your dealings with other members, or your breach of these terms.

We may update these terms. When we make a material change we will publish the new version here with a new version number and effective date, and ask you to accept it in the app. Continuing to use the service after a material change takes effect means you accept it.

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Alberta have jurisdiction — without limiting any non-waivable rights you have where you live.
