Post-Construction Cleaning · Calgary
The last trade on site, on the day it has to be done.
Handover dates do not move because the clean ran long. Syndex shows you which verified Calgary cleaning crews can take a rough clean, a final, or an occupancy-day touch-up — WCB on file, commercial work only.

About this trade
Post-construction cleaning is scheduled last and squeezed by everything upstream. Every day a trade runs over comes out of the clean, and the handover date does not move to make room. The crews that survive that are the ones who can put six people on a floor at 6pm on a Friday.
It is also not janitorial work. Drywall dust in every track and reveal, adhesive on glass, protection to lift, and a deficiency walk to keep up with — different scope, different hazards, and a site that is still a construction site while they are in it.
Common project types
What Calgary GCs hire post-construction cleaning subs for.
Rough clean & dust control
During construction: debris out, dust knocked down between trades, floors swept for the next crew.
Final pre-handover clean
The detail clean before the walkthrough. Glass, fixtures, millwork, washrooms, vents, reveals.
Occupancy-day touch-up
After the deficiency list is closed and the protection comes up. Usually the shortest notice on the job.
Post-renovation office clean
Occupied-building TIs where the tenant is back at their desks the next morning.
Multi-family & common-area turnover
Unit-by-unit cleans and common areas, sequenced against staged occupancy dates.
What to know when hiring
Four things GCs check before they sign.
Budget three cleans, not one
Rough, final, and touch-up are three separate mobilizations. A single "final clean" line in the budget is the most common way this trade blows past its number.
Do not book the final clean before the dust settles
Drywall sanding keeps releasing dust for days. Cleaning too soon buys you a second final clean at your own cost. Sequence it after sanding is genuinely finished and before floor protection comes up.
Ask who carries the glass
Razor-scraping adhesive and paint off tempered glass can drag fabricating debris across the surface and scratch it. Ask what method the crew uses on glass and who is on the hook if a storefront lite has to be replaced.
They are a construction trade — treat them like one
Cleaners are often the only crew on site nobody orients. Site orientation, PPE, and current WCB apply to them exactly as they do to the framers.
How Syndex works for this trade
Post the clean — scope, square footage, the date it has to be done by. Verified Calgary cleaning crews get notified and reply with what they can staff. You see who is available before you commit a handover date to a tenant.
Short-notice work is the norm in this trade, so the request goes out immediately rather than sitting in an inbox.
Frequently asked
Post-Construction Cleaning hiring — questions GCs ask first.
- Is post-construction cleaning the same as janitorial?
- No. Janitorial maintains an occupied building on a routine. Post-construction cleaning removes construction dust and residue from a site that is still under construction — different scope, different equipment, and different hazards.
- How many cleans does a tenant improvement usually need?
- Typically three: a rough clean during construction, a final before the walkthrough, and a touch-up after deficiencies are closed. Post them as one request or separately, whichever matches your schedule.
- Can I get a crew for an evening or weekend clean?
- Many crews in this trade work evenings and weekends because that is when the site is empty. Put the hours in the request so the replies price the right window.
- Are Syndex cleaning subs WCB-verified?
- Yes. WCB on file is a network baseline before anyone joins the matching pool.
